Contracts
- Does my job contract have to be in writing?Yes. It must be written and state the type of work and the wage. Without a written contract you don't lose your rights: you can prove you worked there and what wage was agreed with any evidence, such as witnesses, messages, wage transfers or payslips.
- Which language must my contract be in?Kurdish must be used between employer and employees, including contracts; another language may be added. A foreign-language document can't be used against the worker.
- How long can probation last?At most three months, and it must be in the contract.
- Can a fixed-term contract keep being renewed? No fixed term for continuous work, unless extra workers are needed for a set period and task.
- Can my employer make me sign a promissory note or a financial guarantee? No. A promissory note, financial guarantee or forced debt as a condition of hiring or keeping the job is illegal, and must be cancelled.
