What if my employer never registered me for social security?

Registration is compulsory. If unregistered, ask an inspector, call 5500, visit the social security directorate, or go to the labour court. The fund must pay what you are owed even if contributions were not paid.

Federal Iraq
The employer must notify the social security directorate within 30 days of the worker starting.

The law
The Kurdistan Region has no labour law of its own, so it still applies Iraqi Labour Law No. 71 of 1987. Federal Iraq has applied the newer Labour Law No. 37 since 2015.
