HKN Hamrin Ltd. is hiring a Materials and Logistics Team Lead to oversee material management and logistics operations on a 28/28 rotational basis in the Hamrin Block. The role requires substantial experience in warehouse materials management and international logistics.

HKN Hamrin Ltd. is a privately held, independent oil and gas company operating in the Republic of Iraq. The Hamrin Block is comprised of 535 km2 and contains one producing field. The Hamrin field produces oil primarily from the Tertiary (Miocene) reservoirs — the Jeribe and Euphrates formations — with the Dhiban formation as a secondary reservoir.

The Materials and Logistics Team Lead Oversees HKN’s Hamrin material management and logistics operations, with overall accountability for establishing and implementing effective supply chain and inventory management processes and procedures. Ensures the safe, efficient storage, control, and issuance of equipment and materials to support HKN’s Hamrin operations.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the Materials and Logistics (“M&L”) department.
  • Ensures the safe and effective operation of HKN’s Hamrin warehouse(s).
  • Manages and mentors the team to ensure full compliance with HKN and regulatory-approved procedures.
  • Develops and strengthens the capability of the M&L department to meet international standards.
  • Manages all logistics operations, both local and international shipments (import and export), ensuring the most optimum methods are selected, taking into consideration delivery timescales and costs.
  • Liaises with vendors to provide the required shipping documentation in accordance with HKN requirements.
  • Mobilizes material and equipment to support stakeholders’ requirements.
  • Maintains correctly balanced inventory levels on all product lines.
  • Establishes and implements methods and best practices related to the systems and process’ that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, and material control.
  • Makes recommendations regarding excess and obsolete materials including analyzing and initiating steps to minimize financial and/or operations impact of carrying excess, obsolete, and/or expired materials.
  • Manages a cycle count program and ensures accuracy of inventory.
  • Organizes all physical inventories and root cause analysis related to discrepancies.
  • Prioritizes and encourages a strong safety culture within the team.
  • Ensures that HKN’s materials management software is maintained up to date as per the materials management procedure.
  • Reviews / approves requisitions / orders / contracts for goods and services required for M&L operations.
  • Reviews / approves vendor invoices associated with M&L team works.
  • Efficiently drafts and manages HKN’s Hamrin M&L team budget.
  • Manages effective use of databases and filing systems to retain and have available all documentation for audit purposes.
  • Continuously monitors M&L team performance against agreed KPIs.

Requirements

  • Experience: minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in warehouse materials management and eight (8) years of experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain management.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with vendors, internal teams, and government bodies.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple shipments simultaneously, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing conditions and resolve issues promptly.
  • Working proficiency in English sufficient to prepare reports and correspond with international stakeholders
  • Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • A strong commitment to safety, compliance, and teamwork.
  • High level of competency with the Microsoft suite of applications.
  • The candidate must be in excellent physical health, without any conditions.

Working hours

  • Rotational Basis (28/28 or as agreed with Line Manager)
