About the job

The Internal Auditor performs duties related to their scope of work within Internal Sharia Audit and Control, supporting the department’s objective of providing independent assurance on governance, internal controls, risk management, Sharia compliance, and the follow-up of corrective actions. The role ensures the accuracy of outputs, quality of service, and compliance with delegated authorities, policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned tasks and transactions accurately and within the specified timeframe, in accordance with approved procedures and delegated authorities.
  • Review the completeness of data, documents, and approvals before completing or referring the work.
  • Follow up on open cases, missing requirements, and exceptions until closure or escalation within the specified timelines.
  • Update systems and records and maintain evidence and documentation accurately and in a traceable manner.
  • Contribute to audit planning, including defining objectives, scope, risks, and required audit tests.
  • Perform audit tests, gather sufficient and appropriate audit evidence, and document findings and conclusions in working papers.
  • Evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls, governance, and risk management within the scope of the audit engagement.
  • Review compliance with relevant Sharia controls and resolutions and document exceptions where applicable.
  • Draft clear audit observations covering the condition, criteria, cause, impact, and recommendation, and discuss them with management.
  • Follow up on corrective action plans, verify closure evidence, and escalate cases of delay or unresolved findings.
  • Comply with the Bank’s policies and procedures and relevant regulatory requirements, while maintaining the confidentiality of the Bank’s, customers’, and employees’ information.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments and units and provide required information within delegated authorities to ensure work completion and address dependencies.
  • Contribute to improving procedures, systems, and controls, and submit recommendations that enhance efficiency and quality while reducing risks and errors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, Information Technology for IT Audit, or a related field relevant to the nature of the position. CIA/CISA certifications or specialized Sharia certifications, depending on the scope of the role, are considered an advantage.
  • Typically, 2–4 years of relevant experience, preferably with experience in the banking sector, depending on the nature of the position.
  • Proficiency in relevant systems and applications, analytical and problem-solving skills, accuracy and time management, report writing, communication and teamwork, maintaining confidentiality, and compliance with policies and controls.
