Shahan Company is seeking a skilled and service-oriented Barista to join DDK Library and Coffeehouse. Reporting to the Coffeehouse Manager, the successful candidate will prepare and serve coffee and other approved beverages to consistent quality standards, maintain bar and equipment readiness, support guest service, and contribute to a clean, organized, and positive café experience.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests professionally, answer basic beverage and menu questions, and prepare coffee, tea, and other approved beverages according to company standards.
- Maintain consistency in beverage quality, taste, presentation, and speed of service while keeping the barista station clean, organized, and ready for operation.
- Operate espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other beverage equipment safely and correctly.
- Communicate guest orders and special requests clearly to relevant team members.
- Monitor and restock coffee, milk, syrups, cups, ingredients, and bar supplies.
- Support opening, closing, setup, and cleaning tasks required for smooth daily café operations.
- Handle routine guest feedback professionally and report stock shortages, equipment issues, maintenance needs, or service concerns to the Coffeehouse Manager.
- Follow hygiene, food-safety, grooming, and company service procedures at all times.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of relevant experience as a barista or in a similar coffee and beverage service role.
- Good command of Kurdish and Arabic is required; basic knowledge of English is required.
- Good customer-service and communication skills, with a polite and professional approach to guests.
- Ability to prepare coffee, tea, and other approved beverages accurately, consistently, and efficiently.
- Good understanding of coffee preparation, basic beverage presentation, hygiene, cleanliness, food safety, and service standards.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and remain organized during busy service periods.
- Previous experience in a café, coffee shop, restaurant, hotel, or other customer-facing food and beverage environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with espresso machines, coffee grinders, milk steaming, and basic POS or order-taking systems is an advantage.
- Flexibility to work shifts according to DDK Library and Coffeehouse operating requirements, including evenings and weekends when required.
