Kurdistan Foundation is looking for a Public Relations Specialist to help protect and strengthen the Foundation’s public image by building strong relationships with media outlets, developing compelling communication materials, and ensuring that the Foundation’s work is accurately represented across traditional and digital media.

The role requires an excellent Kurdish writer and communicator with a strong understanding of the local media landscape, government protocol, and public messaging.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Kurdish, Iraqi, regional, and international media outlets.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Kurdistan Foundation and journalists.
  • Coordinate interviews, press conferences, media briefings, and media visits.
  • Ensure timely media coverage of Foundation initiatives.
  • Respond professionally to media inquiries.
  • Write press releases in Kurdish and English.
  • Prepare comprehensive media kits for events, campaigns, and major announcements.
  • Draft official statements and public announcements.
  • Develop media Q&As and key messaging documents.
  • Ensure all public communications follow the Foundation’s tone and branding.
  • Prepare speeches for senior leadership.
  • Draft talking points for interviews, conferences, forums, and public appearances.
  • Adapt speeches for different audiences, including government officials, donors, youth, international organizations, and media.
  • Coordinate media attendance at Foundation events.
  • Prepare media schedules and press itineraries.
  • Manage press accreditation where required.
  • Follow up with journalists after events to maximize media coverage.
  • Maintain an updated database of media contacts.
  • Monitor news coverage related to Kurdistan Foundation.
  • Track public sentiment across media platforms.
  • Identify reputational risks and recommend communication responses.
  • Prepare crisis communication materials when required.
  • Develop stories highlighting the Foundation’s impact.
  • Gather beneficiary success stories.
  • Coordinate with program teams to transform projects into media-friendly stories.
  • Support documentary and campaign planning with communication materials.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Team to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Coordinate with Program Managers to collect project updates.
  • Support proposal launches, campaigns, conferences, and official visits.
  • Prepare official communications for ministries, embassies, UN agencies, NGOs, and partners.
  • Ensure communications follow appropriate diplomatic and governmental protocols.
  • Assist in preparing briefing notes for high-level meetings.

Requirements

  • Previous experience with NGOs, government institutions, or international organizations is preferred.
