HKN Hamrin Ltd. is a privately held, independent oil and gas company operating in the Republic of Iraq. The Hamrin Block is comprised of 535 km2 and contains one producing field. The Hamrin field produces oil primarily from the Tertiary (Miocene) reservoirs — the Jeribe and Euphrates formations — with the Dhiban formation as a secondary reservoir.

Reporting to the Lead Planner the Planning Engineer will develop, own and maintain project schedules and accompanying reporting systems for HKN departments requiring planning support, primarily Projects and Engineering and Operations and Maintenance. The Planning Engineer works closely with project leads/managers and O&M teams to collaboratively develop and maintain plans/schedules and reports on progress in a timely and effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project schedules for project teams within the Projects and Engineering department, operations teams and other HKN departments requiring planning support.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance plans/schedules as output from the maintenance management system.
  • Effectively track and report on progress against baselines, highlighting any concerns.
  • Identify critical path and near critical path activities for project teams to assist in effective project execution.
  • Prepare management overview schedules for reporting and or presentation purposes.
  • Present prepared plans/schedules to project teams and or management to support project sanctioning at various stages of development.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in an applicable numerate discipline.
  • Formal training and certification in Primavera P6.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant onshore upstream oil and gas industry experience with a minimum of 2-5 years of this experience as a planning engineer.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team or independently.
  • Able to work on several simultaneous activities, prioritizing as necessary.
  • Able to work collaboratively with internal departments and external contractors to effectively develop and maintain schedules which accurately reflect work plans and activity durations.
  • Effective communicator, able to communicate with senior management and project leaders when required.
  • Good inter-personnel skills for dealing / liaising with internal departments and external contractors/suppliers.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of execution planning and reporting.
  • Ability to travel to site is required. This requires an acceptable level of mobility and fitness to carry essential safety equipment (escape sets).

  • Sunday – Thursday 8:30 – 17:00
