Al-Mesalla is seeking an MHPSS and Case Worker on a service contract basis to deliver psychosocial support, case management, and coaching across primary health centres and social service facilities in Salah al-Din. The position requires a university degree in psychology or social work, at least 3 years of relevant experience, and fluency in Arabic.

Al-Mesalla.ORG for Human Resources Development is a non-governmental, non-profit civil society organization registered with both the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi Central Government. Since 2004, Al-Mesalla has been actively operating in Iraq, focusing on civil society empowerment, women’s rights, livelihoods, peace, and justice.

Al-Mesalla Organization for Human Resources Development is implementing a 12-month ((project supporting the reintegration of Iraqi returnees from Northeast Syria and vulnerable host-community members in Ramadi and Fallujah in Anbar Governorate and Shirqat and Baiji in Salah al-Din Governorate)). The project works exclusively through existing government and community structures rather than creating parallel systems.

The MHPSS / Case Worker delivers the core service of Output 1. The post forms the mobile MHPSS and case management team that operates on scheduled service days inside selected Primary Health Centers and DoLSA social service structures, providing psychosocial support, case management, service information and safe referral to 300 beneficiaries across two districts. The post also provides three months of on-the-job coaching to train government staff under Output 4, which is what converts classroom training into applied practice.

Responsibilities

Conduct joint assessment of existing MHPSS, case management, health, protection and social protection services in the two districts.
Map and update the district referral pathway and confirm the service point with the hosting facility.
Agree with the weekly service-day schedule with each facility and maintain the working relationship with facility management.
Conduct confidential intake, vulnerability screening and individual needs assessment using the standardized tools.
Register each beneficiary once with informed consent and a unique identifier.
Provide psychosocial support and case management according to assessed needs, maintaining confidential case records.
Open, manage and close cases against agreed criteria, with documented follow-up.
Provide service information to beneficiaries and deliver documented awareness and group information sessions with registered attendance.
Make referrals with recorded informed consent and verify whether the person reached the service.
Document barriers to accessing referred services and feed them back into the referral pathway.
Deliver three months of on-the-job coaching to train government staff inside their own institutions, working on cases from their own caseload under the applicable confidentiality and data protection rules.

Requirements

University degree in psychology, social work, counselling or a related field.
At least three years of experience delivering MHPSS or case management services, preferably with returnee or displacement-affected populations.
Practical training in psychological first aid and in case management.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential case records and apply informed consent and safeguarding standards.
Ability to work inside government health or social service facilities in cooperation with facility staff.
Experience working with returnees from Northeast Syria or with families perceived as affiliated with extremist actors.
Experience coaching or mentoring government social workers.
Residence in ,or strong familiarity with the assigned districts.
Conflict sensitivity and application of Do No Harm in day-to-day decisions.
Commitment to safeguarding, child protection and the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse.
Confidentiality and sound judgement when handling sensitive personal information.
Ability to work with government counterparts without creating parallel structures.
Fluent Arabic. English sufficient for the reporting and documentation required by the post.

Working hours

Contract Type: Service Contract- daily fee Basis.
Level of Engagement: Up to twenty (20) working days per month, as required by project needs and the approved project framework.
Contract Period: Eleven (11 Months) from 1 Nov 2026 to 30 Sep 2027.

Notes

The post holder signs the Al-Mesalla code of conduct and completes safeguarding and PSEA induction before field deployment. Al-Mesalla applies a survivor-centered approach to any safeguarding concern and operates a confidential reporting channel through the Complaints and Feedback Response Mechanism.
