Reports To: IT Manager
The Technical IT Specialist is responsible for providing technical support, maintaining computer systems and networks, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the organization’s technology operates efficiently and securely.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and repair computers, printers, servers, and other IT equipment.
- Provide technical support to employees through in-person, phone, email, or help-desk systems.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity problems.
- Manage user accounts, passwords, access permissions, and security settings.
- Install and update operating systems, applications, antivirus software, and security patches.
- Monitor network performance and assist with maintaining reliable IT infrastructure.
- Perform data backups and support disaster-recovery procedures.
- Document technical issues, solutions, system changes, and equipment inventories.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding employees by preparing and securing devices.
- Educate users on IT systems, cybersecurity, and best practices.
- Follow organizational IT policies and help protect confidential information.
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff or external service providers.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 1-2 years' experience in technical support, help-desk operations, networking, or systems administration.
- Good communication and customer-service abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
