The HALO Trust is hiring a Field Medic based in Baiji to provide emergency trauma care, casualty stabilization, and medical preparedness for clearance teams.
About the job
Responsible for: The Medic supports the Team Leader (TL) in managing their team’s medical responsibilities.
Job Purpose: To ensure medical activities are conducted safely, effectively and efficiently in accordance with standards operating procedures (SOPs).

Responsibilities
- Ensure the health, safety and medical preparedness of the clearance team in accordance with SOPs, ensuring high standards of personal and team safety.
- Maintain readiness to provide immediate first aid and trauma care in the event of an accident or medical emergency.
- Plan, conduct and evaluate regular CASEVAC drills to maintain team preparedness and identify areas for improvement.
- Monitor the health and wellbeing of team members, identifying medical concerns and advising supervisors on fitness for duty where required.
- Promote and monitor hygiene standards in the workplace, implementing measures to reduce the risk of communicable diseases and other health hazards.
- Inspect, maintain and replenish all medical equipment including MTKs and stretchers, ensuring they remain complete and serviceable, and report issues or shortages to ATL or TL.
- In the event of an accident or incident, provide immediate stabilisation of casualties, conduct triage, evacuate to safe medical points and conduct further CASEVAC as required. Take command of intermediate care provider trained personnel and designated medics to support the medical response.
- Follow all emergency procedures in case of an accident or incident.
- Support the wider operational needs of the programme as directed by senior management.
Requirements
- Recognised medical, nursing, paramedic, emergency medical technician or relevant first-aid qualification.
- Valid trauma-care and first-aid certification as required by HALO.
- CASEVAC training is required or must be successfully completed.
- Previous experience providing first aid, emergency medical care or trauma support is required.
- Experience supporting field teams, emergency response or mine-action operations is desirable.
- Strong emergency first-aid and trauma-management skills.
- Ability to conduct triage and casualty stabilisation.
- Ability to manage CASEVAC procedures.
- Ability to monitor staff health and medical preparedness.
- Good medical record-keeping and equipment-management skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
