mselect is looking to hire a Senior Wellhead Engineer for an international oil and gas operator in Basrah, Iraq.
The Senior Wellhead Engineer serves as the focal point for the specification, technical assurance, coordination, and management of Wellheads and Christmas Trees (WHXT).
The role is responsible for selecting suitable and cost-effective WHXT systems for various well types and ensuring compatibility with existing field systems.
The position provides technical oversight of existing WHXT systems and new equipment supply, ensuring effective integration, deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
The role requires broad knowledge of well operations, with strong expertise in WHXT design, project management, QA/QC, manufacturing, assembly, and engineering.
The position works closely with Wells teams, Procurement and Supply Chain, suppliers, and senior leadership, requiring strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
A strong technical background is essential, with experience as a Wellhead Subject Matter Expert (SME) within an operator or in a technical and project management role with a major wellhead equipment supplier.
ئەرکەکان
- Technical planning: Serves as the technical focal point for WHXT activities across the Wells Department, including planning, forecasting, and managing WHXT deployment, supply, refurbishment, and reuse across the field. Coordinates new equipment requirements and the refurbishment of existing equipment, while managing interfaces with legacy systems to ensure efficient and cost-effective inventory utilisation
- Procure equipment: Focal point for WHXT supply and services tendering working in the Wells Engineering team
- Continuous improvement: Review performance of suppliers and develop continuous improvement plans for service and for in-house scheduling and strategy
- Inventory management: Key role to develop supply and interface strategy given complexities of current deployed inventory, undeployed inventory and future supply
- Operational analysis: Ensure all WHXT supplied are compliant with evolving specifications and policies and assure that the supply strategy will continue to be compliant with policies
- Design optimisation: Focal point for periodic technical design and review of WHXT with input from the Wells Teams
- Wells catalogue: Maintain a register of deployed WHXT and key interface limitations
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Define and monitor contractor KPIs and arrange and facilitate contractor performance improvement meetings as and when required
مەرجەکان
- Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of technical experience in Wellhead and Christmas Tree (WHXT) systems, including at least 3 years of experience in a project management role overseeing the provision of WHXT.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.
- Bachelor of Engineering or a relevant technical Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 10 years of technical experience for WHXT
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a project management role for the provision of WHXT
- Previous experience in WHXT management with a preference for large-volume projects (200+ WH and XT installations per year) or technically complex projects (subsea wells or offshore platforms)
- Must be able to demonstrate a key role in allocating wellheads, overseeing their installation and managing the coordination/project management
- Experience of key roles in competitive tendering for WHXT supply contracts
- Demonstrate understanding of key components and common weaknesses in the manufacture, supply and coordination of large-volume WHXT supply
- Mandatory knowledge of key industry standards and good practice regarding wellhead manufacturing and supply
- Preferable engineering or technical background
- Mandatory experience of working on land operations, preferably experience in the Middle East
- Strong interpersonal skills and good communication skills, with fluent English language skills (written and spoken) and preferably Arabic
- Broad experience and knowledge in drilling, workover and well intervention with respect to wellheads and XT
- Preferably experience with a range of WHXT systems, manufacturers and suppliers
