دەربارەی کارەکە

HKN Energy Ltd. is a privately held, independent energy company with oil exploration and production operations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).

HKN Energy is focused on increasing production of its Sarsang Block, located in the prolific Zagros fold, and thrust belt of Northern Kurdistan. We have a highly experienced, diverse team with work experience in over 80 different countries. HKN Energy is committed to building a company culture that is guided by its Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Excellence, Commitment, and Teamwork.

HKN Energy operates and develops oil and gas assets across Kurdistan, Syria, and the wider region. The Sarsang and Atrush asset team is responsible for the day-to-day operation of both fields, including production, production facilities, maintenance, power supply, and asset projects. These activities generate data daily, including production reports, PI/SCADA tags, maintenance work orders, power generation and fuel logs, project schedules, and cost reports. The position is responsible for consolidating these data sources into a consistent, reliable, and integrated view of asset performance.

The position will serve as the asset team’s data specialist, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reconciliation of key asset performance indicators, including production, deferment, availability, power, costs, and project schedules. It will also be responsible for maintaining the underlying data pipelines, reporting processes, and dashboards to ensure their ongoing reliability and availability. Working closely with the Asset Manager and the production, facilities, maintenance, power, and projects leads, the position will translate operational and business requirements into practical data solutions, provide clear and actionable insights, and identify and communicate data discrepancies or reliability concerns. A strong understanding of oil and gas operations is essential, including the operational implications of separator trips, generator outages, and maintenance work-order backlogs, to ensure that data analysis reflects real operational conditions and supports informed decision-making.

ئەرکەکان

  • Daily production. Own the asset’s daily production reporting from wellhead to export: facility inlet and outlet, tank inventory, flaring and export figures, reconciled day by day. Record deferment and downtime by cause – wells, facility, power, export – so that losses can be ranked and acted on.
  • Build the data model and dashboards for the production facilities: throughput against capacity, separation, treatment and water-handling performance, flaring and chemical consumption. Trend DCS/SCADA/PI tags to spot bottlenecks and deterioration before they become losses.
  • Turn CMMS and inspection data into usable reliability information: work-order backlog, PM compliance, MTBF and MTTR, bad-actor equipment and spares. Link equipment failures to the production they cost.
  • Power supply. Track generation availability, load against capacity, fuel-gas and diesel consumption, trips and outages and their production impact, and power cost per barrel.
  • Maintain progress, cost and schedule tracking for the asset’s projects: S-curves, budget and AFE against actual, procurement and materials status, milestone status and the monthly project report.
  • Data model and pipelines. Design, build and maintain the pipelines that pull these sources – daily reports, PI/SCADA exports, CMMS extracts, cost and schedule files – into SQL Server, reconciled, logged and documented, with one agreed set of data definitions across the asset.
  • Dashboards and reporting. Own the asset’s daily report, the weekly and monthly asset review packs and the dashboards used by the Asset Manager and management. Decide what is shown and why, and make sure every figure reconciles.
  • Work with the production, facilities, maintenance, power and projects leads to turn their questions into data products. Take part in the daily production meeting and asset reviews. Challenge data that does not make physical sense and say so.
  • Standards and methods. Set the engineering standards for your work: Git, tests, code review, documentation, data definitions, units and as-of dating, and the company’s security standards (no credentials in code, parameterised SQL, authenticated access). Apply statistical and machine-learning methods – anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, forecasting – where they measurably beat the simpler approach, and retire them when they do not.

مەرجەکان

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical or process engineering (preferred), or in another engineering, computer science, statistics or mathematics discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data science, data engineering or quantitative analysis in an industrial or operational environment, including substantial hands-on work with time-series and operational data.
  • Working understanding of how an oil and gas asset runs and where its numbers come from: daily production, facility throughput and downtime, maintenance work orders, power generation and fuel consumption, project cost and schedule. You know why field data can be wrong and how to tell.
  • Strong Python (pandas, numpy, scipy) and the habits of production code: modules, tests, logging, version control and code review.
  • Strong SQL, preferably SQL Server and T-SQL: schema design, indexing, query performance, stored procedures and parameterised queries.
  • Experience building and running data pipelines end to end: ingestion from Excel, CSV, historian and CMMS exports, validation, reconciliation, scheduling and monitoring.
  • Experience building web applications or dashboards with a Python web framework, preferably FastAPI, and a plotting library such as Plotly, deployed on Windows/IIS or similar.
  • Sound applied statistics: regression, time-series analysis and uncertainty, with the judgement to know when a simple model is enough.
  • Strong Excel, including reading complex engineering and cost workbooks and automating them (openpyxl or similar).
  • Able to work without close supervision as the only data specialist in a team of engineers and operations staff, and to set and defend your own priorities.
  • Careful with numbers. You check totals, units and dates before you report a result, and you expect the same from others.
  • Good written and spoken English. Arabic or Kurdish is an advantage.
  • A prior role in production operations, facilities, maintenance, electrical or project engineering at an oil and gas operator, or several years embedded in an asset or operations team.
  • Familiarity with production loss and deferment accounting, reliability and maintenance metrics (availability, MTBF/MTTR, PM compliance, backlog) and power-system basics (generation capacity, load, fuel gas, trips).
  • Experience with CMMS data (SAP PM, Maximo or similar), OSIsoft/AVEVA PI or other SCADA historians, and project-controls data (Primavera P6, MS Project, cost reports).
  • A record of applying machine learning to operational data – anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, forecasting – with an honest view of what worked and what did not.
  • Windows server basics: IIS, scheduled tasks and Active Directory authentication. Exposure to Power BI.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, and experience of working in Kurdistan, Iraq or similar operating environments.
